Oslo on budget
How to make the EAWOP 2015 congress affordable for students and others with a limited budget.
Travelling to Oslo from most parts of Europe is possible with low-cost airlines. Especially if you choose the alternative airports Rygge (1 hr by train or bus) or Torp (1 1/2 hrs by train or bus), read more here: Travel to Oslo.
Moving around Oslo with its compact city center is easy, so put on some comfortable shoes and walk between the hotels, the venue and the attractions!
Accommodation
Beside high standard hotels, there are numerous affordable options if you want to save money. There are plenty of pensions, bed and breakfast hotels or hostels in the city center, and in walking distance to the congress venue. A word of advice: Once you have decided to go to the congress, do not delay booking your accommodation! Even though Oslo has a good accommodation capacity, the choice of hotels narrows as your day of arrival approaches.
Meals
Firstly, a lot is already included in the congress fee! Every day you will get free lunch, coffee, tea and water. You are also invited to the welcome reception at the congress venue after the opening ceremony. And to a reception in the beautiful City Hall on Thursday evening – both offering food and beverages. Besides there are many affordable cafés and pizzerias in the venue’s immediate neighbourhood (the street Torggata is recommended).
